Cowlip were most generous to Randy's character. Justin gets everything always and always in a best light. Why Randy was so upset while filming...

He really disagreed with Brian and Justin getting back together. He felt that their relationship wasn't very positive and didn't support it.

I think since then Randy has started to look at his QAF experience with kinder eyes, hopefully he feels a bit differently now that he has done a few conventions in Paris and plans to attend the one in Germany.

Yep. He EVEN got that - Brian/Justin apart at the end of the series.

I think he was upset after season 3, and I get that. Justin's character, especially in season 5, was not Justin. It was like some pod-person had invaded his body and then ... argh. I don't even know where to start. I think Randy Harrison felt that too, and wasn't happy with it.

I can see what you mean.
Brian is also not himself in S4/S5.

The only thing that save seasons 4 and 5 for me were Gale and Scott/ Brian and Ted. They should have gotten paid double for making them watchable.

I think Randy's opinion of not only his character but the show in general was influenced by his boyfriend's at the time Simon Dumenco views, after they broke up he seemed to have changed, even participating in the QAF convention in Paris.

he wasn't 100% satisfied with his character. he saw that the whole pink posse arc is OOC for his character

Randy was at war with CowLip and the second group of writers
from Season 3 onward -- and that certainly impacted the
way they wrote (?) Justin, as well as the way Randy perceived
the show.

It didn't help that Simon and his NYC pals had a "too cool
for school" attitude towards the show, which certainly
affected Randy's attitude as well.

Numerous plotlines (Pink Posse, bashing aftermath, etc.)
were not to Randy's liking and unlike others (Peter
on the Fetch Dixon arc, for instance), he made his
displeasure known. In turn, CowLip wrote some of his
actual comments into his lines, named a sleazy character
Simon (not a coincidence), etc. At least two of the
writers have taken public swipes at Randy, dishing
about how much they disliked him -- but without being
specific as to details. So it's been nasty on both sides.

The only thing we definitely know is that Randy's friendship
with Gale and a number of the others, mainly Peter and Scott,
was unaffected. I think time and distance has made Randy
more philosophical about the show, if not about CowLip and
their minions.
